There are different types of car & van "wheel bearings cost" ; some are a sealed bearing unit. Some are roller bearings in a cage. This type is tapered with a shell either side.

This type can be packed with grease and can be adjusted. The sealed type cannot be adjusted or repacked with grease. They both usually need to be pressed out and new bearings pressed in. What ever type they are we can replace a car wheel bearing and a car & van bearing of all types.

Most wheel bearings range in price from $40 to $90 except hub type bearings. The cost to fit most shell type bearings ranges from $80 to $110 plus GST. To replace rear wheel bearings on rear wheel drive cars is more costly. We have to remove the rear brakes, backing plate and axle. The wheel bearings with oil seals need to be pressed off and the new ones pressed back on then refitted to the car, van or truck in the reverse procedure.

They usually cost around $200 plus GST for rear car or van wheel bearings. Geddes Automotive Ltd has the equipment to repack wheel bearings on your car van & truck.

Yup mine started making noise at like 60k and I thought it was the tires as well but come to find out it is the skf bearings in the rear. I have 65k on it now. The noise was just to loud to be tires because the tires werent showing any signs of funny wear or anything. Now when I have the windows down I can distinguish the small whine from my tires and the wheel bearing sound. I guess my grandfather spoke the truth when he said plan on putting a thousand dollars into your car the first year you have it if you buy used.
